All you need is a Happy Thought!

Recently I discovered some great Tinkerbell fabric at a local store and it followed me home! How could I pass it up? It was pretty and pink and all the things I love! I'm already thinking of when I can have a second baby and I think I would like to do a Peter Pan themed nursery....but if its another girl Tink would be good too!

Live the Berenstain Bears! When I was growing up I LOVED the Berenstain Bears! I can still remember my Dad reading them to us as kids. In fact when I started teaching one of the very first things that I did was go buy a bunch of these books. When I was reading them to my kindergarten class a very smart little girl patiently waited all week as I was reading the stories and then she finally asked me , " but where is hunny bear?". I had no idea the bear family had grown since I was a child! Now there are 5 bearskins a dog and a cat! Needless to say I had to update my collection.

I found out my best friend was pregnant shortly after I had my first baby and was thrilled she was going to be having a baby boy. So natuarally I made her a quilt out of this fabric. But I had enough left over to make a second quilt, this one for a baby girl!

Going once, Going twice ..... Sold!

I had my first sale on etsy just 48 hours after opening my shop! I was thrilled I sold a Strawberry Shortcake baby quilt. This quilt was made with fabric that shows the old, original, vintage Strawberry Shortcake not the new somewhat sexy version!

I had the opportunity to visit a wonderful "cottage " this summer ( it was more like a mansion on a lake ) and in town there were two wonderful quilting stores. I found a lot of great finds including this panel. I bought 2 so there will be a second one listed shortly!

I love these 80's retro cartoon prints.....now to fine Rainbow Brite fabric!

Shop, shop, shop

So being off on maternity leave this year has allowed me a little bit more time for quilting! In between feeding and sleeping and playing, of course. Recently I have been eyeing up some new sewing machines in order to further expand my hobby....however my hubby, is not so sure of the cost involved in this! So he suggested to either put our daughter in baby modelling (which I will not do) or sell some of my quilts.  Now seeing as I have a large number of quilts, that I keep around because I like them and wonder if I will one day use them, I decided to go with the later option.

I have had an Etsy account forever, to fuel my fabric buying habit! But recently opened up a store. I listed 2 items and sold one within the first 24 hours! So I listed two more...at this rate maybe I will be able to buy a new sewing machine! Here is a link to my store Fabricated Quilts!

A lot of things happen....

A lot of thing happen in 10 months, like having a baby.  In September my husband and I were thrilled to find out that we were expecting our first baby! It was a long 10 months full of sleeping and other joys that accompany pregnancy and finally our little girl arrived at the end of May just a few weeks ahead of schedule!

In the time that I was pregnant I did very little quilting.  In fact I think I only made 2 quilts.  One for our little girl, and one for my twin brother who had a baby just a few months before us!

So I lost my beautiful sewing room turned into a beautiful nursery.  Here is the quilt for our little one.

So pretty!

I even expanded my horizons and made matching drapery!

Pretty nifty eh?

Hopefully now that our baby is here I will have a little more time for quilting...ha! I have got a few projects on the go so more to come shortly!

Quilt #9?

Long time no post! That is the life of a public school teacher. I had 9 weeks of leisure and then September was very busy for a month! Luckily it is now October and I am getting into the swing of things.

So my goal this summer was to make 10 quilts and read 10 books in 9 weeks.  I have a feeling that was a little over ambitious...but I came close (with the quilts anyways).  Unfortunately, I selected to leave all my bigger, larger quilting projects for the summer (and books that were equally as lenghtly!).

So I ended up making 9 quilts in 9 weeks (not bad me thinks!) but I only read 5 books (could have done better there...maybe next summer I should learn how to read and quilt at the same time!).

My 9th quilt project was not really a quilt at all but a set of placemats.  I bought this fabric awhile ago and made one and hated it, got frustrated and threw it in a box never to be seen again.  But I wanted to practice some of my different quilting patterns so I got the box out and made 10 placemats.  If I do say so myself, I think they turned out pretty well!

So there you have it.  9 quilts in 9 weeks. Summer challenge complete.

Feeling Optimistic!

I got this fat quarter bundle online from The Fat Quarter Shop when I was ordering a bunch-o-fabric for my summer quilts.  If you order over $200 the shipping is free...so of course I had to do that! I saw this bundle that was put together by Rachel Griffith who has her very own very cool quilting blog.  I loved all the patterns and prints that she put together.  So I found a very cool pattern to go with this bundle and VOILA you have quilt #8!
